DREAMS

© 2019 Anna-Maria Stromberg-30.jpg

What are our dreams? A dream can be a dream when we sleep, or something that we work to achieve and become reality. When I remember a dream from waking up, I believe it is the most important to explore. Our subconscious mind is playing out and expressing our deepest emotions that we might be too scared to deal with in our lives, and in turn become unconscious. It’s not always we remember our dreams, but I started to put myself as every character in the dream, and then have the courage to see what consciously bothered me in my life, without denying the truth about myself or a situation.

Then we have dreams that we aspire to do in life. We have a goal or a purpose we would like to do. Many times what you aspire to do in life changes throughout our lives. Many years ago I dreamed of having two horses and a farm. Now that has dramatically changed over the years. The important part is to not give up on your dreams!

Today’s Assignment;

Find someone that can help your dream come through. It could be as easy asking for $10 so you can buy paper to write your dream down:)

LOVE

© 2019 Anna-Maria Stromberg-6.jpg

What is love? Love is the most powerful force we have on this earth, yet they also say that love is the most unknown force we have..I believe love is to take something as part of ourselves, which means the light, and our shadow self. Unconditionally, not transactionally which unfortunately seems to be happening in most relationships in the world today. I read this the other day and it made me think about what love really means to me, how powerful love is.. and also the well known fact, if we don’t love ourselves we are really not capable of loving anyone else.

“The more I fall in LOVE with myself, the more I find myself in LOVE with the beauty around me.” Isn’t that the truth!

Every day, every moment, we make a choice to either love in a positive way or not, and always having a choice, it can change to a negative or  positive in our lives so quickly. For example, I don’t think you can love your partner or friend in one moment and attack him or her the next.. If your “love” has an opposite, then it is not love but a strong need for a more complete and deep sense of self, a need that the other person temporarily meets. True love has no opposite.

This perfectly written paragraph really sums it all up.

“ The beginning of love, is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves, the resolution not to twist them to fit our own image. If in loving them we do not love what they are, but only their potential likeness to ourselves, then we do not love them: we only love the reflection of ourselves we find in them. ”

- Michael Singer

Also when I do what I love I give more to the world in every way. It moves in waves and currents like the ocean and we are trying to hold on to it to control the situations and people around us, which never work. Everything you want to be, do, or have, comes from love. It heals and energizes every part of us. When I think about love it also can be very mysterious and it feels very powerful when it happens. For example, the love a parent feels for their child is indescribable in many ways. I always wondered if we need it to be unconditional for it to be true love..I believe unconditional love is the only love. I see so much transactional love nowadays, control and manipulation and it makes me sad. If you give this I give you that, and sometimes we are not even aware of what we do when it comes to love..The truth is if we can accept both the shadow and the light in a person and love them as a part of ourselves we would experience less divorces and separation and receive unconditional love and freedom which I believe we all want. But it takes courage and vulnerability which can be hard to reveal in ourselves.

It's also easy to love people who are like us. It's not as easy to love people who seem different. It's also not easy to love the way we sometimes feel, or unpleasant things that happen to us, but I believe even our negative feelings need to be loved and sometimes losing balance for love is part of living a balanced life.

Liam Neeson comments on love,

“ Everyone says love hurts, but that is not true. Loneliness hurts. Rejection hurts. Losing someone hurts. Envy hurts. Everyone gets these things confused with love but in reality, love is the only thing in the world that covers up all the pain and makes someone feel wonderful again. Love is the only thing in the world that does not hurt.”

Today’s Assignment;

Today look for Love! Give someone a hug you don’t know. We all need it!

PRAYER

© 2019 Anna-Maria Stromberg-20.jpg

I learned this late in life but I was so grateful when I finally did. One time I read:

“There are only two tragedies in life. One is not getting what one wants, and the other is getting it.”

For me the last was the hardest.

Our will gets us into trouble. We aim for some goal, but even when we get it, we are rarely satisfied.. Or we don’t get what we want and feel inadequate or deprived. The only time I ever found lasting satisfaction is when I let go of myself-will and became willing to surrender and commit to something bigger than myself. Then those dreams have a chance of becoming an incredible reality, without manipulation, control or illusions of being “the right way”. Prayer and meditation is the direct path to any desire for me.When I have realized that my problems are too big to solve myself…I also don’t need not to be alone with my problems, if I’m willing to accept help from something bigger than me. In the beginning I faked it, but after a while I realized how powerful it is if you are open to it. Sometimes I’m angry at the universe, but the more angry I get, the louder it gets..so why fight it? It has to do with a deep trust in something I can’t control, a trust of the unknown. When you start believing in this bigger force, every part of your life becomes lighter and easier to handle. Life will let you down, so I see it as having a friend that will always be there and is always right, and then I accept and surrender to him or her, or whatever you want to call it. It’s also equally important to not only ask for guidance when your life doesn’t go the way you want, but also communicate to it when things in your life go well.

Today’s Assignment;

Ask whatever you think is bigger than us a question. And say Thank You to someone you appreciate in your life.

OUR SPIRIT & MY PHOTOGRAPHY

© 2019 Anna-Maria Stromberg-23.jpg

I always wondered what really is our Spirit? Is it that part of us that we can’t see nor hear or touch, but feel? So if we can feel it, how does it feel?

I can feel my spirit all over my body when someone tells the truth of something they really believe in, or I can recognize it in my experiences when I say or do something that is real. My body tingles all over. It usually starts by my shoulders and moves like a wave all the way down to my feet. It’s an amazing feeling that I want more of when I feel it. Many times nature gives this sensation too.

Our spirit can be alive and move through our bodies, or it can be stagnant. I believe our spirit lives in us and it can travel through others as well. It’s an incredibly powerful energy that moves through the universe in connection with all living things.

Photography

So photography is part of my spirit and when I started taking pictures, I saw I had a talent right away and I found such a deep connection within myself that it couldn’t be ignored. Everytime I look through the lens I capture a moment in time, but also I capture myself. I capture the truth, what is real and the history for the future. The love of the moment is so intoxicating I can’t stop when I start sometimes. I forget everything around me and completely absorb the present. It’s my spirit that runs through me in such a powerful way that sometimes the picture shows itself before I even know I’m gonna take it.

Today’s assignment;

Take a photograph of yourself and hang it up on your fridge for one day and every time you open the fridge, say: “ I love myself just the way I am. I am exactly where I’m supposed to be in my life, and if I live in reality there will be no fear.”

OUR MIND & MEDITATION

© 2019 Anna-Maria Stromberg.jpg

There is nothing in this world that can trouble us more than our own thoughts!

Our minds are an incredible tool, but it also could be detrimental to us in so many ways..how do we focus on positive things instead of negative, when negative is what we are conditioned to, and hear the most? Why do we have the urge to take in more information to our brains than necessary, when we really don’t need it..

If you can sit and concentrate only on a beautiful butterfly for 5 min without getting any other thoughts distracting you, you are well on your way. I started meditating for 5 min and it was incredibly hard as my mind was completely out of control many times. With practice, taking small steps, and not setting up too high goals that can make us disappointed, I noticed a change in my energy, focus and how I felt. Every little thing, as small as walking down the street.

We are thinking..

- should I take the short way or the long way

- is that man in front of me is going to bump into me or not

- am I going to be late for work

- am I going to have a good day today and so on..

It truly makes our minds crazy, thinking we really need all that information. Also imagine at the same time we are thinking of those little things, there are thousands more things that come up every second. If we can stay, and float around in the moment, I realized we get a peace that we can’t or never want to be without. I also found I need to protect this at all cost.

You are thinking easier said than done..

What do we do when we feel trapped or can’t stop thinking? We do and say impulsive and irrational things, or we start feeling numb to anything and anyone. We work as robots to avoid that feeling of serenity that takes us to a different place. If we don’t let our minds rest, it will give us illusions of things that are not real.. It’s like not having food or water for extended periods of time, your mind and body will shut down and will not be able to think, speak or even move in a healthy peaceful way anymore. Moving or still meditation changed my thoughts and situation to creativity, serenity and peace that I never thought was there.

Meditation

To stop and stay in the moment and let my mind rest, I started meditating. It doesn’t teach me how to escape from my thoughts, but to see the difference between my thoughts, and who I really am. Every day I meditate, it heals my Body and Mind & Spirit. That’s why I find it the most important out of all my practices. I started to be aware of every small little detail of what I did. For example when I wash my face how the soap feels on my face, how it smells, how it looks, what do I hear. Being aware of all my senses makes me stay in the moment. After a while of practicing meditation, I learned to enter a deeper level, where I came in contact with my subconscious mind. And boy was that both thrilling and scary..

I saw the stories and things in my life that held me back, but also where they rise to the surface and begin to break apart. Research shows that in this deep state you can receive when meditating, is the key to learning, but also un-learning which I had no idea of.. Now that became my ultimate goal! And that’s what I want to arrive at, and practice every day to achieve. So once I learned to navigate that state somewhat..(still learning:) I could program in new patterns, and unlearn the old ones, which I realized are the sole reason I didn’t get ALL of my needs met in my life.

Meditation is an incredible tool so when my mind is spinning out of control I try to meditate. Today for example I sat on my couch as I normally do when I meditate, and I had a very hard time focusing, or stop thinking about everything I think is important and negative thoughts of what I haven’t completed. I started to breath deeply and slowly and felt more grounded again. When I feel stressed this way I try to meditate more than once per day, and most of the time it leads me going in the right direction again. When I step out and meet the world today I can keep that moment of peace with me, even if things around me are not.

Today’s Assignment;

Sit outside (If weather permits) barefoot, feel the earth and try to connect with everything around you, using all your senses. Close your eyes and breathe for 5 min. Have a day full of new things come to you today!

OUR BODY & YOGA

© 2019 Anna-Maria Stromberg-5.jpg

When we go with emotional, psychological and continuous stress for a long time, without dealing with it, it will eventually show up as symptoms in our bodies, and we think we can do things with our bodies that our bodies can’t necessarily do, especially in the moment of stress. For example at this time we often distract ourselves instead of listening. It could be doing things that make us feel good in the moment like extreme sports, skydiving, running too far, lifting too heavy weights, cross-fit, work, eat or drink too much etc. It makes us feel great in the moment because of that feeling of ecstasy but that does not necessarily take care of our bodies.. sometimes it could even become like a drug, an escape to not process our emotional health. When I think about it, it’s not so much what I did, but how much and how hard I did it. Continuing to ignore the alarms, we can easily get injuries and chronic pain everywhere in our bodies, which happened to me. I believe our bodies remember those stresses, and it can get stuck in our bodies for a very long time and develop more serious illnesses, unless the energy is released. No matter how much physical therapy and medication I took worked. After starting listening to my body and taking care of my stress, I realized I didn’t have to go to extremes in anything in my life in order to feel good. When I made a slow change my body started to respond in a positive way. After finally surrendering and taking it slow, I realized my mind and body are connected to each other, and needs to be treated equally in order for both to function together.

Yoga

One of the ways that helped me was yoga. I had to consciously move through space with my breath, slowly leading the way to a mindful way of thinking and moving. Yoga opens our hearts and minds to see endless possibilities in our lives and can be a great tool to open your mind through movement of our bodies. I had to concentrate on my body and I was forced to slow down and be mindful of what I was doing. Repeat - trust - repeat - trust. Even if your body disagrees at first it will eventually accept and adjust and you start to trust the earth you stand on. It will always hold you. Go slow, breathe and trust. When I started doing yoga I was stale, frustrated and angry. Not only couldn’t I do what everyone else did, but I hadn’t dealt with the emotional pain that hindered me and my body to do anything. After a while I realized my mind was trying to control what my body didn’t want or couldn’t do yet. With time, practice, being gentle to myself and consistent, it slowly changed, not to perfection, but to a mindful way to use both my body and mind together.

Today’s Assignment:

Today do one thing that you normally don’t do with your body. It could be moving very slowly when you normally do something quickly.
